We are a family owned and operated business that specialises in customer service! We teach and train our staff to apply our speciality throughout our network of adult retail variety stores. Our culture helps bring out the best in our people to make sure that the customer service is very different to the traditional adult shop. Jodie and Scott Gowans are the owners and are very proud of the concept they have developed. Sextastic started as a small operation in 1999 and has grown to multiple stores in 2006, and again in 2007. CEO Scott Gowans says “We aim to be the premier adult retailer in Australia, and we are both really excited about franchising and giving other people the chance to own, and experience the enjoyment we get out of the Sextastic concept. We spent the late part of 2005 developing systems and a model to franchise, and then during 2006 we refined everything with a professional franchise developer, and now we are ready to go.”

WHO IS SEXTASTIC?
Sextastic does not have viewing rooms, or sell any drug paraphernalia at all. We are about having bright, friendly, fun ideas and products for adults. We are very proud to be the first adult retail business in Australia to be accepted as a memeber of the FCA (Franchise Council of Australia), we are also members of the main adult industry body EROS.
Franchising is best described as being in business for yourself, but not by yourself. The adult retail industry is expanding, with figures released suggesting that the potential for future growth is huge. The industries main showcase event is Sexpo which travels from city to city each year and attracts 200,000 people per year. Overall the industry is healthy, but still very much a ‘sunrise’ (or developing) industry. Now is the time to grasp the opportunity to mix the franchising model with the adult retail industry and apply for a Sextastic franchise. Who wouldn’t like to own their store full of toys! It is well known that it is very hard to open an adult store with all the Government, Council and compliance laws which are costly and very time consumming to overcome. Then once you do get a permit, well you are on your own with no bulk buying power or support network to help you through the growth of your business. We will use all our expertise and take care of things like: site locations, leasing arrangements, permit applications, store setup, opening orders, stock mix, marketing, etc. Then of course there’s the product training and systems, product ranges, tax, balance sheets etc. etc. So why not join us and grow together and have support network of the franchisor and other franchisees. Our committment to our franchising will be based on trust, loyalty and mutual respect. Over the last 7 years we have learn’t what works and what doesn’t and last year we engaged the fantastic services of Mr Phil Blain from Franchise Alliance who is one of Australia’s leading franchise experts. Phil and his team completed a 9 month project which included a feasability study, system development and took our basic to intermediate knowledge of franchising to a new level using his 30 years of experience and examples. We are very passionate about success, and will demand the same of any applicants. |

The majority of Australian adults still haven’t even been inside an adult shop before, and we know from customer feedback that the ones that do shop in other adult stores, are often disappointed with the experience and enviroment the shops provide. We change all of that, and make it a great shopping experience every time. |
The Australian adult retail market has a lot of independantly owned stores that are very different to how we operate. There are a few main chains of stores that have expanded to a couple of states, but no one has a national network of stores. It’s simply a fact in any business, that a store run by an owner with staff, will always do better than a store with a manager and staff. Better still a franchised group of stores will give you the best possible chance of success. Using the franchising model, and Sextastic concept we believe that we will be able to grow accross Australia, and together we will build the strongest brand in adult retail.
